Giriraj Swami is an initiating guru in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and one of the leading disciples of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of ISKCON
Giriraj Swami was born Glenn Phillip Teton, the only son of a respected Chicago lawyer who was later appointed judge. In March 1969, while studying at Brandeis University in Boston, he met A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). After graduating from Brandeis cum laude, he accepted formal initiation from Srila Prabhupada and received the spiritual name Giriraj das. Giriraj quickly became a leading member of the Boston center, and he was soon given the opportunity to go to India with Srila Prabhupada and helped establish Prabhupada's mission there.
In 1972, Giriraj was appointed by Prabhupada to be president of ISKCON Bombay and trustee of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust.[3] Since then, he has made many significant contributions to Srila Prabhupada's mission, most notably overseeing all aspects of the development of Hare Krishna Land in Juhu, Bombay. He was instrumental in the acquisition and development of Bhaktivedanta Ashram in Govardhan and led the development of the Kirtan Ashram for women,[4] the Bhaktivedanta Hospice, and the Vrindavan Institute of Palliative Care, all in Vrindavan.
In the year following Srila Prabhupada's death in 1977, Giriraj was awarded sannyasa, the renounced order of life, and appointed president of ISKCON's board of trustees in India. In 1982 he was appointed to ISKCON's Governing Body Commission, and he went on to oversee the Society's activities in Bombay, Mauritius, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan Giriraj Swami has also taught at the Vrindavan Institute for Higher Education [5] and continues to lecture and to give presentations at retreats and workshops around the world.
He is the author of many books like “Watering the seed”, “Many Moons: Reflections on Departed Vaishnavas”, “Life’s final Exam”, “I’ll Build You a Temple: The Juhu Story” Giriraj Swami has become renowned for the austerities he has accepted, his loyalty and dedication to Srila Prabhupada's mission, his ability to inspire and engage important members of society, and his care for devotees around the world.
Bhakti Vijnana Goswami was born in Tashkent, in the former Soviet Union. He took to spiritual life in 1980, during the difficult time of the communist era, when the Committee for State Security (KGB) was harassing all spiritual practitioners. Despite the obstacles, as a scientist, a Moscow State University graduate and postgraduate student at Institute of Molecular Biology, he decided to experiment with the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, which moved him profoundly.
From 1988 till 1995, known then as Vaidyanath Das, he was head of the translation department of the North European BBT translating Srila Prabhupada‘s books into Russian and other languages of the Soviet block. In 1995 he officially took the lead of the Society in Russia. He acted as a member of ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission from 1997 till 2017 when he took GBC Emeritus position. His main zonal responsibilities were Moscow and most of Russian regions. He also took responsibility in Armenia, Georgia (CIS), Israel and South Korea.
He is a disciple of Radhanath Swami. In 2001 he took Sannyas along with his present name. He travels widely throughout the world sharing Krishna Consciousness in his own unprecedented manner. Since 2005 he has been serving as one of the initiating gurus of ISKCON. In 2010 Russian Federation awarded Bhakti Vijnana Goswami a medal “For professional and business reputation. For his contribution in strengthening Russian-Indian friendly relations, and for his contribution to the popularization of the spiritual-cultural literary heritage of India.”
Bhakti Purusottama Swami first joined ISKCON in Mayapur, India, in 1978. He is an initiated disciple of Jayapataka Swami and is an integral part of the organization of the Headquarters of ISKCON in Mayapur, where he is based. His managerial position as temple president at Bhubaneswar, Orissa (his native state) from 1982 to 1987 gave him an introduction to the responsibilities he has later embraced.
His GBC zonal assignments include Eastern India, Bangladesh, Korea and Nepal. He is co-GBC and co-zonal secretary for North and South Korea, India, Arunachal Pradesh, Mayapur and West Bengal including Puri, North and Western Orissa, Bangladesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Nepal, Sikkim, Assam, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bhutan, Meghalaya and Tripura.
Bhakti Purusottama Swami travels to many other parts of the globe encouraging others in their spiritual life.
This encouragement is not limited to speaking on and exemplifying Krishna consciousness, but is also available in print. Bhakti Purusottama Swami is the author of several books: Śrī Kṣetra parikrama, The Final Call, Death, and a book on the pastimes of Krishna’s dearest devotee, entitled The Glories and Pastimes of Srimati Radharani. He has also written a few smaller titles in the Bengali language. Besides his native Oriyan, Bhakti Purusottama Swami speaks Bengali, Hindi and English and shares Krishna consciousness in all of these languages.

Amogh Lila Prabhuji’s real name (birth name) was Ashish Arora, born in Punjabi family in Lucknow. His father was Raw officer. Because of his father’s posting their family had to move to different places. He finished his software engineering in 2004 and worked till 2010. His Holiness Bhakti Ashraya Vaishnava Swami, born in the year 1961. He came in contact with ISKCON and Bhagwat Gita As It Is, while working as manager in a company in 1984. In the year 1949, HG Deena Bandhu Das was born as Don Romeo in United States, near Los Angeles, California in a Catholic family.)
In 1969 with a friend, he met the Hare Krishna devotees who were in Boulder, Colorado to start a temple. He received the ancient Vedic literature named Bhagavad-Gita As It Is. As he was going through the pages, he realized that all questions that used to be in his heart were getting answered. Thus he first met his eternal spiritual master A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, who came to the United States to spread the Hare Krishna movement throughout the world through his literary work of Bhagavad-Gita. Finding the real happiness he was searching for, he decided to walk the path of devotional life and never return to college. The material knowledge was of no use for him when he got hold of real spiritual knowledge. He was the first devotee to join the Hare Krishna temple in Boulder, Colorado. Srila Prabhupada later initiated him and gave him the charming name of Deena Bandhu das, servant of the Lord who is the friend of the humble.)
Later, he was sent to Dallas to help start an ISKCON Temple there. After some time, he served with his now wife, Akuti devi dasi, in various temples including, Houston, San Antonio, LA, and Santa Barbara. In September of 1972, he was appointed the Temple President in Portland, Oregon. There he preached for more than five years, convincing many sincere souls to take up spiritual life. In 1978, he went to Miami, Florida and served outside the temple there.)
In 1980, he was invited to come take up active service again in Colombia, South America, where he perfected his Spanish. Serving under Alanatha Swami (now known as Paramadvaiti Swami), he eventually became the Regional Secretary. Finally in April of 1984, he got the opportunity to serve in the Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Mandir in Vrindavan, India. He traveled and preached extensively with a preaching party in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan for two years. Then in April of 1986, he was appointed Temple President of Sri Krishna Balarama Mandir, serving for three years and three months. During this time, having been first inspired by Gurudas Prabhu, and later the late Padmalocana Prabhu, and Dhruva Maharaja Prabhu, he began taking devotees on parikrama of the holy places of Vraja. More than three decades have passed and he has become a permanent Vrajavasi (resident of Vrindavan) and he still continues to take pilgrims on parikrama. He inspires in all love of Vraja, showing different holy places around Vrindavan and narrating enchanting stories of Sri Sri Radha Krishna related to those places.)
He didn’t confine this love of Vraja to only Vrindavan. He broke through all borders and boundaries to spread the love of Krishna and the message of Godhead. Deena Bandhu Prabhu travels the world spreading the glories of Vrindavan. He is very famous for taking everyone to Vrindavan through his fascinating presentations in his seminars. Wherever he goes, the devotees are enchanted by the delightful accounts of Krishna’s pastimes. He is famous for relating the enthralling histories of Vraja all over the world. Around the year 1988, a saint named Baba Madhav das approached him to take over the restoration project of a very sacred place in Vraja called Vrinda Kunda near Nandagaon. This holy place where Vrinda Devi, the goddess of Vrindavan, resides was given over to ISKCON by Baba Madhava das, who had begun the work. By Deena Bandhu Prabhu’s pure endeavor and devotees mercy, now a carved stone temple, beautiful ponds, and enchanting flower gardens are there, which give one the impression of what Vrindavan should be like. Every year Vrinda Kunda is visited by many pilgrims and they experience the natural, calm atmosphere of the place. The project of Vrinda Kunda has remained his heart and soul and he’s still making the place more beautiful so that everyone can have real Vrindavan experience.)

He is serving a Senior Spiritual Counsellor to Radha Gopinath Bhakta Samaj from 1989.Hundreds of devotees were trained by him in different groups. Now he is training medical doctors into spiritual life style and practices. He has developed a full-fledged curriculum in “ Spiritual Care in Nursing” based on teachings of Srila Prabhupada for undergraduate and post-graduate nursing students and implemented it in Bhaktivedanta Institute of Nursing Education from 2005. He extensively delivered spiritual discourses on BhagavadGita on various television channels like Star-TV, Aastha, ETC, Colors etc. He also delivered professional and spiritual discourses to medical professionals in UK and USA in 2007-2008. Currently working on introducing the curriculum in “ Spiritual Care in Nursing” in Royal College of Nursing in UK. Also he will start the construction of Bhaktivedanta Hopsital at Barsana for Eye Services in recent future.

Originally from New Zealand, Bhakti Caitanya Swami joined the Hare Krishna movement in London, early in 1973. Almost a year before, as a philosophy student at Auckland University, he had first seen his future spiritual master walking across the campus with his followers. Srila Prabhupada initiated Bhakti Caitanya Swami later in 1973, giving him the name Raghubir Dasa. Eleven years later in Mayapur, the order of sannyasa was awarded to Bhakti Caitanya Swami who is an initiating spiritual master for many devotees around the world. Bhakti Caitanya Swami initially served in the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust and also distributed Srila Prabhupada’s books from 1973 until 1980.
Then Bhakti Caitanya Swami moved to South Africa, where, from 1980 to 1982, he served as temple president in the rural community of Cato Ridge. Thereafter he did fund raising for the building of the Temple of Understanding in Durban, which opened in 1985. This extraordinary temple combines modern design with traditional Vedic architecture and is one of South Africa’s landmarks. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit each year.)
From 1985 until 1988 Bhakti Caitanya Swami served as regional secretary for South Africa, and he then participated in an outreach project in Johannesburg from 1988 until 1991. From that time until now, Bhakti Caitanya Swami is mostly engaged in traveling and spreading Krsna consciousness in an authoritative and accessible way. His permanent base is Durban, where his gentle and saintly presence provides stability.After joining the GBC in 1998, Bhakti Caitanya Swami’s assignments have included Angola, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Estonia. Furthermore, he acts as co-GBC for Mauritius, Northwest Russia, Eastern Siberia, Western Siberia, Latvia, South Africa, and Lithuania. Bhakti Caitanya Swami has served as chairman of the GBC in 2002-2003 and as vice chairman in 2001-2003 and then again in 2010-2011. Within the strategic planning team effort, Bhakti Caitanya Swami is involved in the team building committee.)
His special interests include filming, photography, and parikrama (visiting holy places of deep spiritual import). The splendid outcome of these interests can be seen in the impressive series of appealing documentaries of holy pilgrimages in India and festivals around the world and in books such as Vrindavan: The Playground of God and Traveling in the Service of Srila Prabhupada, Volumes 1, 2 and 3.
Born in New Jersey, USA, in 1947, Candramauli Swami came in contact with the International Society for Krishna consciousness (ISKCON) in Denver, Cororado, at the age of twenty-four. In 1973, he began practicing Krishna consciousness in New York City and shortly thereafter began serving at New Vrndavan farm community in West Virginia. He received initiation in 1973 from His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.)
In 1986, he accepted the sannyasa order and began preaching in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. In the early 1990’s he became involved with the ISKCON Prison Ministries in America, and began visiting inmates, holding programs, along with writing letters to inmates and sending in Srila Prabhupada’s books. In 1995 he began serving as the resident sannyasi in Chicago, where he is based today. At present, Candramauli Swami preaches in America, India, Western Europe, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, and the UK. He is an initiating spiritual master within the ISKCON society.
Kadamba Kanana Swami joined ISKCON in 1978 in Amsterdam. Until 1984 he managed projects in Vrindavana. From 1985 through 1990 he coordinated the construction of Srila Prabhupada’s samadhi in Mayapur. Then, for three years, he was the temple president in Vrindavana and later spent two years preaching in Europe. He took sannyasa in 1997 and is now an initiating guru.
Radhanath Swami was born in Chicago, USA. In his teenage years, he embarked on a journey of discovery of the world and religion that ultimately led him to India where he met Srila Prabhupada in 1971 and embraced his teachings. Initially serving in India, Radhanath Swami returned to the USA where he served at a West Virginia farming community and was initiated by Srila Prabhupada (1973).)
In 1979, he left his pujari service and caring for cows at the farming community to pioneer educational programs in colleges and universities in the United States.Radhanath Swami took the vows of sannyasa in 1986 and returned to India. His major efforts in India have resulted in the large community and Temple in Chowpatty, Mumbai, and ISKCON Belgaum temple. Other programs of sharing Krishna consciousness are currently faring successfully in Kolhapur, Nasik, Aurangabad, Nigdi and other centers in the Maharastra state of India .)
Radhanath Swami became a member of the GBC in 1996, and is responsible for the following zones: Villa Vrindavana, Firenze area, Centro Studio Bhaktivedanta, Bologna area, and Venice area Italy; and in India; Chowpatty, Mumbai, and Maharastra. In his role as co-zonal secretary he supports Goa, Daman, Diu, Maharashtra, and Calcutta in West Bengal.)
Radhanath Swami has a special interest in the holy places in India and leads thousands of devotees on pilgrimage each year. Radhanath Swami is a trustee of Bhaktivedanta College, Belgium, by providing his spiritual support and encouragement.For the past twenty-five years, besides guiding the development of the ISKCON Chowpatty community in Mumbai, Radhanath Swami has directed a number of acclaimed social action projects including Midday Meals, daily serving over 250,000 plates of pure vegetarian food to the children in the slums of Mumbai. He has also worked to establish missionary hospitals and eye camps, eco-friendly farms, schools and ashrams, an orphanage, and a number of emergency relief programs throughout India.)

H.H. Sacinandana Swami left home only 16 years old to meet devotees and to become a disciple of Srila Prabhupada in 1971. Maharaja’s first years in ISKCON were spent by translating Srila Prabhupada’s books from English to German and later he joined the book distribution party in Germany. Desiring to deepen his preaching, Maharaja soon started to visit people, who already got our books to encourage them to actively practice Krsna consciousness at home. This was the beginning of a nama-hatta congregational preaching in Germany and the North European area. Later this developed into a big preaching programs with the Gauranga Bhajan Group and the Nityananda Bhajan Group. Sometimes preaching to thirty thousand people, Sacinandana Swami would say: “My heart dances in joy when I see so many people taking to Krishna Consciousness.” Later Maharaja was instrumental in helping to start different farm communities and projects, like the Goloka Dhama project in Europe.)
In the last ten years H.H. Sacinandana Swami dedicated more of his time to inner spiritual life, seeking inspiration and higher guidance on extended pilgrimages and spiritual retreats. He visited Vrindavan many times and organized a number of retreats, devoted to the Holy Name. He also visited many holy places, such as in Himalayas, South India, etc. Always a preacher, Sacinandana Swami shared many of his insights in his books: “Nectarean Ocean of the Holy Name”, “The Gayatri Book” and “The Way of the Great Departure”.Beside teaching in Bhaktivedanta College (Radhadesh, Belgium), Maharaja’s new emphasis lies on a unique preaching concept of presenting the culture of Krishna Consciousness to the people in Veda Academy. It has already been started in eight countries and soon is to be spread to many others.
